Blogs:- Hi All, Recently i have been witnessing that my patients come to me stating that their kid aged 7months{etc} has some cold and cough that is not reducing and that they have started on Mox which they claim has been prescribed by doctor. When i question back when did they visit the doctor , then they say 4 to 5 months back they had visited the doctor . Well, on one side we have over the counter distribution of antibiotics and on the other hand we have these kind of issues. Request to all practicing Paediatrians is kindly tell the parents as to what medicines they can start and what medicines they should not. As it is i have been finding that Amoxicillin and Amoxy Clav are not working. Lets make efforts from our side. THANK U ALL.

Blogs:- The matrimonial conflicts in our society are on the rise and divorce rate graph amongst young couples is showing an upward trend. The problem can be attributed to stressful lifestyle, both partners working, and lack of joint family support ,as it used to be in the past. Various researchers have studied the negative impact of parent’s divorce on a child’s mental state, school performance and overall personality. The findings, published in the American Sociological Review, are based on data that tracked the development of 3,585 students from kindergarten through fifth grade to examine the impact before, during and after the divorce. This study reveals that these negative impacts do not worsen in the post-divorce stage, although there is no sign that children of divorce catch up with their counterparts, either. The developmental setbacks of the children is attributable to several factors, including the stress of living with bickering and potentially depressed parents, unstable livin...

Blogs:- The green tea is becoming very popular now a days due to its anti-oxidant properties. However are there any side effcts of green tea_? I came across some interesting articles on this topic. Firstly it contains lot of caffiene, nearly half of same quantity of normal coffee. Too much of green tea, therefore, can have side effects similar to over consumption of coffee. These include palpitations, headache, insomnia, polyuria, dryness of mouth and irritability. It may even increase the blood pressure also. Another very serious thing about green tea, which I learnt about was significantly high Fluoride and Aluminium contents in the green tea. The Fluorides are toxic substances and their higher quantity or prolonged use may lead to symptoms like stomach and intestinal pains, severe headaches, weakness and fatigue, skin rashes, mouth ulcers, worsening of allergic conditions including Asthma, blurred vision, excessive thirst and joint pains and stiffness. Nearly all victims have fatigue t...

Blogs:- There are two categories of medicines being marketed by various Pharmaceutical companies. These are generic and branded. Even well established companies like Ranbaxy, Cadilla, Piramil, Cipla and many others are practicing this marketing strategy. The MRP tag is comparable in both the categories. However the wholesale cost is quite different in the two groups. The cost price to the retailer, in case of branded medicines is about 6-10 percent less than the MRP whereas in case of generic products it is 30-40 percent of the printed MRP. So the wholesale {WS} price of a generic product is nearly one third of the MRP printed on it. However the retail chemist sells the generic products at the printed maximum retail price rather than passing the benefit of much lower wholesale price to the patients. This discrepancy between the WS price of two categories was explained by MR of a company. He revealed that the overhead expenses incurred on marketing and promotion of a branded product a...
