Question Category : GER
My grandchild is in the hospital for the third time since she was born Oct. 27, 2004. She has been diagnosed with acid reflux. The mother had terrible swelling in her legs and feet during and after pregnancy. She does not eat very healthy. Wouldn't it make since it is the diet that is causing this since she is breastfeeding by bottle? Thanks for any help.

Our grandson (now 14 months old) was been diagnosed with Respiratory Airway Disease at the age of 2 months. The doctors (pediatric pulmonologist and gastro-interologist) are now wanting to perform surgery on his stomach to prevent reflux which they feel was causing the RAD. My concern is that while he has had some minor problems with colds this winter - there has been no instance of pneumonia or a serious case of RAD. They have also mentioned that an allergy to milk could be part of the problem with the reflux. Is there any way to treat the reflux without resorting to a surgical procedure to turn his stomach?
